Hello! I’m Yuan Hehe. Please follow me for more exciting content. OPPO Find X10 Ultra leaks
Recent leaks about the OPPO Find X10 Ultra’s imaging capabilities are quite interesting. According to current information, this phone may become one of the few top-tier Android flagships in 2027 to continue using a dual periscope telephoto lens, and may even have the opportunity to exclusively feature a 10x super telephoto lens solution.
More importantly, a competing brand was also testing a similar 10x telephoto solution, but it seems they quietly abandoned it. Based on current clues, this brand is likely vivo. After all, there were recent reports that vivo was evaluating a 10x zoom solution for the X500 Ultra; if it’s ultimately cancelled, the Find X10 Ultra will have a stronger presence in the telephoto lens market.
I think this is actually an opportunity for OPPO. Mobile photography has reached a point where the gap between the main camera and the ultra-wide-angle lens is getting smaller and smaller. What really makes a difference in the user experience is often the telephoto lens. Especially when shooting concerts, distant landscapes, architectural details, or creating more compressed portrait compositions, the advantage of 10x optical telephoto is very obvious.
Of course, there’s still a long time before the official release of the Find X10 Ultra, and many specifications may still be adjusted. But from this perspective, OPPO clearly doesn’t intend to be conservative in its imaging flagship.
Key points
The latest rumors about the OPPO Find X10 Ultra boil down to one sentence: OPPO may continue to push the telephoto lens to its most aggressive level.
According to leaked information, the Find X10 Ultra is expected to be one of the few Android flagship phones in 2027 to stick with a “dual periscope telephoto lens,” and may even be equipped with a 10x super telephoto lens. If it is ultimately released, its telephoto capabilities will be highly distinctive.
What’s even more interesting is that a competing brand had previously tested a similar 10x telephoto solution, but apparently canceled the prototype and reverted to its existing periscope telephoto lens with in-sensor zoom. Based on current clues, this brand is very likely vivo.
In other words, the vivo X500 Ultra may follow the approach of the X300 Ultra, continuing to use a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and covering a longer focal length through In-Sensor Zoom, rather than adding a separate true 10x optical lens.
OPPO, on the other hand, is clearly more aggressive. The rumored specifications for the Find X10 Ultra include a 6.89-inch 2K LTPO OLED screen, a large battery exceeding 7000mAh, and a 200-megapixel Samsung HPA LOFIC main camera sensor. The imaging system will be further upgraded from the Find X9 Ultra, with dual periscope telephoto lenses remaining a key focus.
What is vivo giving up?
If this news is true, then what vivo gave up was not just an ordinary telephoto lens, but a real opportunity to directly challenge OPPO.
The vivo X300 Ultra currently uses a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with an optical zoom of approximately 3.7x, further extending the focal length through in-sensor zoom. This solution is already quite powerful, and the actual image quality is not bad, but the problem is that it is still significantly different from a true 10x optical telephoto lens.
Recent reports indicate that vivo tested a true 10x periscope telephoto solution on the X500 Ultra. If this solution is successfully implemented, it will no longer rely solely on high-pixel cropping to compensate for telephoto limitations, but will instead be able to directly compete with the OPPO Find X series at the hardware level.
However, it now appears that this prototype solution has been cancelled. Vivo will most likely continue with its more familiar approach, which involves a high-resolution periscope telephoto lens combined with in-sensor zoom. This solution is not weak and is more reliable, but it lacks the “head-to-head” feel of a true competitor.
To put it bluntly, vivo may have opted for a more mature and controllable approach, while OPPO continues to bet on a more aggressive dual periscope and 10x telephoto lens. If this is indeed the case, OPPO may gain more control over the super telephoto lens trend in Android flagships in 2027.
Why is OPPO’s dual periscope design so difficult to replicate?
The reason why the OPPO Find X10 Ultra stands out in terms of telephoto is that the dual periscope structure itself is not an easy solution to fit into a mobile phone.
Simply put, a single periscope telephoto lens already takes up a lot of space, so two makes the internal stacking of the device even more challenging. It not only needs to accommodate two sets of folded optical paths, but also needs to make room for the main camera, ultra-wide-angle lens, battery, heat dissipation, and other components. For flagship phones, this isn’t simply a matter of “adding another lens,” but rather a complete redesign of the entire device structure around the imaging system.
OPPO has consistently adhered to this approach over the past few years. From the Find X7 Ultra to the Find X8 Ultra, and now the rumored Find X10 Ultra, it feels more like a continuous refinement of existing technologies rather than a temporary addition of features. It is precisely because of the accumulation of previous generations that OPPO has had the opportunity to make its dual periscope lenses more mature.
In comparison, it would be quite difficult for vivo to directly add a true 10x periscope telephoto lens; if it wants to achieve a dual periscope system similar to OPPO, it would not only require an image upgrade, but also significant adjustments to the body thickness, internal space, and heat dissipation layout.
Current information only mentions that the Find X10 Ultra’s dual periscope system will be upgraded, but it’s not entirely clear whether this includes a larger sensor, an improved aperture, or a readjusted focal length. What is known is that it may be equipped with a 200-megapixel Samsung HPA LOFIC main camera, meaning that OPPO is not only aggressive in its telephoto lens this time, but also preparing to continue pushing the main camera to higher specifications.
Therefore, what makes the Find X10 Ultra truly difficult to replicate is not just its “10x telephoto lens,” but rather that OPPO has established its entire imaging system as a long-term strategy. For other manufacturers to catch up, it’s not as simple as just changing a lens.
What does this mean for users?
If you value extreme zoom capabilities most when buying a flagship phone, then the OPPO Find X10 Ultra is likely to be the most worthwhile phone to wait for in the first half of 2027.
According to current information, OPPO will continue with its dual periscope telephoto lens strategy, making the 10x super telephoto zoom a core selling point. The direction is clear: to differentiate itself from other Android flagship phones in telephoto capabilities.
The vivo X500 Ultra will certainly not be weak either. It will most likely continue to use a high-resolution periscope telephoto lens, combined with in-sensor zoom to cover even longer focal lengths. This solution remains strong and more mature and reliable in mid-range, portrait, and everyday telephoto scenarios. However, the problem is that when it comes to truly ultra-long-distance shooting, there will still be a difference between a dedicated 10x optical telephoto lens and high-resolution cropping.
Therefore, for ordinary users, the vivo X500 Ultra may still be a flagship imaging phone that is very good at taking pictures and very stable; but for those who often shoot concerts, distant buildings, landscape details, or especially like the compression effect of telephoto lenses, the OPPO Find X10 Ultra will be more attractive.
Simply put, OPPO and vivo have narrowed the gap in imaging technology with the X300 Ultra generation, but in the next generation, telephoto lenses may once again become OPPO’s stronghold.
