Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi all have new phones, but is it worth the upgrade? With flagship models like the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Xiaomi 13 Pro, people are tempted to buy the latest models this holiday season.
Let's say you are a Samsung fan because of One UI features and stability. On the other hand, another person might be a Xiaomi fan because MIUI is cheaper and has tons of customization options. If you have always thought that iOS is better, then some people prefer Android OS because it is customizable and can be personalized across multiple smartphones. Now let's take a look at it.
iPhone 14 Pro Max: Best overall phone
The iPhone 14 Pro Max is part of Apple's newest line of smartphones, and it continues to prove why the company is the king of mobile devices. 6.7-inch display features Apple's Super Retina XDR panel, which delivers vibrant colors, finer detail and enhanced contrast.
It even supports 4K resolution for video playback and Dolby Vision for HDR. It also has the new Dynamic Island feature, which turns the dead zone on previous models into a notification center.
It features the new A16 bionic processor for speed and overall performance, making iPhone 14 Pro Max the center of entertainment and work. With support for Wi-Fi 6, you get blazing-fast wireless Internet speeds even when LTE networks aren't available.
New sensors in the phone allow it to use Apple's new collision detection feature, which automatically knows when you've been in a car accident or fallen and contacts emergency services. It also comes with a new satellite SOS system that allows you to call for help even if you don't have LTE service.
The battery has also been upgraded to last up to 29 hours on a full charge. With the Quick Charge feature, you can get up to 50% in just 35 minutes of charging; perfect for those times when you forget to charge during a lunch break or work meeting and need to recharge.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: the best Android phone ever

For storage, you get up to 1TB of pre-installed drive space, and if for some reason you need more space for photos, videos, and music, you can sync your phone to your favorite cloud storage service.
It's powered by an 8th Gen Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for greater efficiency and performance than previous Galaxy S models, so you can launch apps, text and video chats faster, and get smoother video.
If photography is your thing, the 108 MP rear camera features a 100x spatial zoom to capture sharper images of the moon, and a night mode to capture stunning images in low-light conditions.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra's battery provides up to 18 hours of use on a full charge, and with the Quick Charge feature, you can fully charge your phone even faster if you forget to do so.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Best Foldable Phone
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 makes a triumphant return to the flip phone, once again letting you hang up easily by closing the phone, while keeping the form factor up to date with modern expectations.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is very compact when folded, about 3 square inches, making it perfect for slipping into a pocket, purse or travel bag. It also features an overlay screen that provides quick, easy-to-read alerts for calls, texts and app notifications without having to open the phone.
The folding form factor is also perfect for creatives and aspiring photographers; you can use the phone as your own tripod when taking group photos, shooting video, or setting up time-lapse nature shots.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is not only compact, but it's also water and dust resistant, so rain, sweat, and everyday use are no problem. The screen uses Corning Gorilla Glass to prevent cracks, scratches and chips while still giving you full control of your apps and phone.
One disappointing feature of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the battery life. While it can last up to 9 hours on a full charge, you may have to keep the charging cable handy to keep the phone powered up for commuting and nighttime use. It does have a quick charge feature so you can quickly charge your phone's battery on your lunch break or in a meeting, which is great if you forgot to charge it the night before.
Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro: the new Snapdragon 2nd gen phone
It looks a bit different. For starters, it has a curved display and body that's styled closer to previous Xiaomi flagships. It's also only available in a more muted color range of white, black, green and light blue. Like the regular model, the latter finish is made from vegan leather, but the other models are made from ceramic rather than glass. Like the Xiaomi Mi 13, it has an IP68 rating.
The Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro is also much larger than the Xiaomi Mi 13, featuring a 6.73-inch display with a dynamically variable refresh rate using LTPO technology (but still up to 120Hz) and a higher 1440 x 3200 resolution.
The chipset is once again a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which has the same RAM and storage options as the standard phone. The battery is slightly larger at 4,820mAh and is powered by the Xiaomi Surge G1 chip, which offers 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Aside from the display, the camera is inevitably the biggest upgrade to the Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro, even though at first glance it seems similar to the Xiaomi Mi 13.
The main lens is still 50Mp, but uses a larger 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor - the same one used in the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra. Here's its f/1.9 aperture and, of course, OIS.
The telephoto lens is also a 50Mp sensor with a 3x zoom level and f/2.0 aperture. Thanks to a new "floating" lens structure, it is also able to focus on objects up to 10cm away, theoretically making it more versatile than most existing telephoto lenses.
Then there's the Ultra Wide Lens, the same as last year. It is also a 50Mp lens with f/2.2 aperture and autofocus. Finally, the 32Mp selfie camera is the same as the 13.
