We've delved into Samsung's recent smartphones to find the perfect phone for your needs. Samsung is locked in a never-ending smartphone war with its biggest tech rival, Apple. Some might say Samsung is winning.
However, which Samsung phone you choose depends on a range of factors. Budget may be the main consideration when making this decision, but you also need to weigh other important factors such as screen size, display quality, battery life and camera features. Let's take a look.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: the best choice for flagship lovers
Samsung has kicked off the new year with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. There are few external changes from last year's Galaxy S22 Ultra, but the biggest addition is the move to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which not only significantly improves performance, but also battery life.
If you are in the market for a new flagship smartphone, it couldn't be better. Samsung's latest all-rounder smartphone gets a major upgrade in the photography segment with a new 200MP primary sensor.
In fact, what impressed me the most was the zoom feature of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. With the help of a pair of 3x and 10x telephoto lenses (and a 108MP primary sensor).
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's photos looked absolutely brilliant in my tests, capturing every detail in tone-perfect color regardless of lighting conditions.
The excellent 6.8-inch 120Hz screen also returns. Sure, you can get the phone much cheaper, but if it's the best phone for Android you're after, then this is definitely it.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: The best folding screen to buy
Do you spend a lot of time on your phone wishing the screen was bigger? Enter the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. this monster is more like a folding tablet than a folding phone, opening up to reveal a massive 7.6-inch display. We found it perfect for multitasking, reading websites and taking notes/drawings with the optional S-Pen.
Samsung's high-end foldable screen is the best we've ever seen. Problems have been solved, and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the ultimate culmination of previous improvements, featuring an IPX8 waterproof rating, abrasion-resistant design, overall performance improvements, and a huge change in multitasking.
Of course, despite its folding capabilities, even folded up (and thick and heavy), this thing is still big. In our Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 review, we found it a bit of a pain to carry around and use on a daily basis.
And with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 being the most expensive smartphone you can buy right now, it's worth every penny if you're lucky enough to afford it.
Especially because it uses the most powerful mobile chipset to date, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 , which in my tests offered the biggest generation-to-generation gaming performance improvements in years. This is definitely the phone for you.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 5G: the best foldable phone for the money
Folding phones are cool - that's a fact. If you're an early adopter and want to jump on the folding phone hype train, the Z Flip 4 is the best folding phone you can buy. It has decent specs and a tried-and-true folding mechanism (now in its fourth generation).
However, in my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 5G review, we found the camera and battery life to be worse than the more affordable Samsung Galaxy S23, so be prepared to make some sacrifices for the sake of novelty.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: Recommendations for a great value phone
Don't have the money for a Samsung flagship, but don't want to skimp on features? Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has almost everything: high-end specs and a long list of flagship features at a low price.
Cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S21 but with the same fast performance, dazzling display and a great set of rear cameras, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was one of the best value smartphones of last year.
If you're shying away from the price of this year's flagships, then the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is certainly the next best thing.
Samsung Galaxy A54 5G: Samsung's best value smartphone
Or, if you're buying a new Samsung phone for less money and you're still not willing to sacrifice too much in terms of features, then the mid-range Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is a safe bet.
With a large color-accurate 6.4-inch screen, triple-camera array, and solid performance, there's little not to like. Not to mention the excellent battery life.
In my tests, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G lasted close to 27 hours. The only downside is that the display isn't HDR-compliant, but that's a minor issue when you consider how much you're getting for relatively little money.
