Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
For industry insiders, Vivo's top-of-the-line tablet phone is arguably the best smartphone in the world right now. It has a great camera powered by a custom imaging chip, a premium design with a textured vegan leather finish, and one of the only phones in the world to use Qualcomm's best ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Let's take a quick dive into the best Vivo phones for 2023, along with their features and prices. The Vivo X90 Pro+ is the best of the bunch, and without further ado, it's time to get down to business.
Vivo X90 Pro+
The Vivo X90 Pro+ is also a noteworthy phone and is noted for its excellent photography capabilities. The Vivo X90 Pro+ has a striking back design. The huge camera bump that protrudes half an inch from the body is somehow off-center.
The vegan leather that wraps around the back is a deep red color, while there is an understated black option that is separated by a horizontally extending metal strip. I love the metal strip, it adds contrast.
The 6.78-inch display curved screen is noteworthy because it uses Samsung's E6 AMOLED display with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It's the latest and greatest display technology in the mobile handset space, with improved viewing angles and anti-flicker technology (1440Hz PWM). In short, it's the best screen on a cell phone today.
The internal components are all on the cutting edge too.The Vivo X90 Pro+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There's a 4,700 mAh battery that can be charged quickly at 80W and wirelessly at up to 50W via the included charger.
Vivo mobile lenses are known for having one of the best camera systems over the past year. vivo has now applied the same IMX989 1-inch camera sensor to the Vivo X90 Pro+, and the results are just as impressive as I expected them to be.
The 1-inch sensor captures a large amount of image information and produces more realistic-looking photos with greater dynamic range than poor sensors. The 1-inch sensor has a natural, shallow depth of field for a realistic bokeh effect.
Vivo's camera prowess has been on display for over a year now, so the success of the X90 Pro+ is no fluke. It's probably the most powerful camera hardware available. The rest of the hardware components, from the display to the fingerprint scanner, inside and out, are cutting-edge technology that isn't even available in most parts of the world. So what's the reason not to buy it?
Vivo X Flip
Now the brand is entering the world of flip foldable phones with the Vivo X Flip, a smartphone that bends at the midpoint and closes like a small box, just like flip phones used to do.
This form factor isn't new: Samsung pioneered it three years ago, and even among its peers, Vivo lags behind Oppo and Huawei in releasing such foldable phones. What Vivo's foldable phone lacks in ingenuity, however, it makes up for with a great price and top-notch hardware.
Priced at $5,999, the Vivo X Flip undercuts Samsung's Flip 4 and Oppo's Find N2 Flip while boasting a better display than Samsung's and a better chip than Oppo's phone.
What makes Vivo's phone stand out, especially when compared to Samsung's, is that the main screen doesn't crease much at the folding point, and the 3-inch external display is much larger than Samsung's 1.4 inches. The hinge is well constructed and can be fixed at any angle. This allows the phone to double as its own tripod/stand for hands-free video calls or time-lapse photography.
Speaking of the camera, this is another standout feature of this phone.Vivo's image processing is one of the best in recent years, which allows the X Flip to take photos that are superior to its hardware. That's why it's worth buying.
vivo X Fold 2
The Vivo X Fold series is one of my favorite foldable phone series because I do see interesting features in them that are unique to foldable models. Well, the latest flagship Vivo X Fold 2 still has a unique advantage over its competitors.
Red is my favorite color version in the series. On this Vivo X Fold 2, the dark red color looks very flattering, and here it adds to the classic charm.
This time around, the back cover is made of two different materials, the right quarter is made of glass with an ink painting-like pattern that also looks like a burning flame. This not only makes the back cover more aesthetically pleasing, but it also visually centers the camera DECO on the left side, which is a brilliant design.
As a folding model, though, it does have a rear camera module that protrudes quite a bit. In order to not visually disrupt the unity of the back, Vivo has provided a stepped design for the module and the base ring has been sculpted to resemble the texture of the camera lens. But the little Zeiss logo sticks out a bit.
The Vivo X Fold 2 comes with a triple lens. The 5x telephoto lens we saw on the previous X Fold+ has been removed and replaced by a ring filler light.
How to bring the best cameras to foldable phones is probably the biggest challenge for all brands as there isn't enough room here for them to cram in super sensors like the imx989 or the periscope telephoto lenses, but sensor size doesn't dictate everything about photography. In most cases, the lens and the coatings on the camera system are more important for the post-processing of the photo.
The display of the vivo X Fold 2 consists of an 8.03-inch inner screen and a 6.53-inch outer screen, both of which use Samsung E6 panels with 2K+ resolution, HDR support, Dolby Vision, and up to 120Hz refresh rate. Aside from the size and resolution gap, the only difference is that some areas of the inner screen can be boosted to 1800nit, which is slightly higher than the outer screen.
Thanks to the new hinge, the crease in the middle of the inner screen looks invisible. The ultrasonic fingerprint reader has always been one of the most unique selling points of Vivo's flagship models, and on the Vivo X Fold 2, we can double up on the best unlocking experience on both the inner and outer screens.
So this is the Vivo X Fold 2. Maybe it doesn't have as much hardware and performance improvements as expected, but I think Vivo made the right choice because a thin enough body is the most important thing for a foldable phone, followed by super fast wired and wireless charging as well as software. Vivo has invested the most in software compared to other brands. That's why I'm still putting it at the top of my foldable phone recommendation list.
Vivo X80 Pro
The Vivo X80 Pro was the company's last generation flagship phone and was widely popular. This phone one-ups the Vivo X70 Pro+ as the best overall Vivo phone of the last generation, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a larger battery capacity, and fast charging support. These upgrades alone make the Vivo X80 Pro our best Vivo phone, but there's more.
The Vivo X80 Pro has a 50MP primary camera with PDAF, Laser AF and OIS. there is also an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and 60x zoom. To prevent the phone from heating up, the Vivo X80 Pro uses a VC liquid cooling solution to allow the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset to work efficiently.
Moreover, the Vivo X80 Pro is made of durable materials and is also IP68 rated for dust and splash resistance. It's the one to go for if you're on a budget, and the price is even lower come 618.
vivo X70 Pro+
Only an older chipset and smaller battery capacity puts the Vivo X70 Pro+ behind the Vivo X80 Pro phone.
Nonetheless, it can be picked up as a backup and it is still an incredible flagship phone to buy. Though not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, the Snapdragon 888+ chipset in this phone is one of the best chipsets in a smartphone.
The specs are still adequate, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, a 6.78-inch WQHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for 55W fast charging.
The 50MP Quad Rear Camera remains one of the best choices for your photography, thanks to the 48MP Ultra Wide Lens that stands out with its gimbal stabilization.
Even though the Vivo X70 Pro+ is a thing of the past, it is still good enough to be one of the best Vivo phones. It has almost the same specs as the premium model and comes at a reasonable discount. Best of all, the Vivo X70 Pro+ is also IP68 rated.
