However, there are some drawbacks here. Despite the inclusion of the powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, there is only 4G modem support on board. So no 5G connectivity.

The highlight of the phone for me, however, is the design.The Mate 50 Pro is lighter than rival phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, while the Quorum glass on the back feels great and is fingerprint-resistant.

Not everyone will like the curved display, but the round, symmetrical "space ring" camera housing continues to provide an interesting look. Huawei offers it in three color schemes: black, silver and orange (vegan leather).

When Huawei unveiled its bookish Mate X2 foldable phone, we all assumed that its primitive, outward-folding form was ominous. Apparently not, as the Mate Xs 2 features Huawei's unique form factor.

You can't talk about this phone without talking about the form factor first. Unlike Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 4, and unlike other foldable phones from Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Honor, and even Huawei itself, the Mate Xs 2 won't fold inward like a book.

Instead, it has a large screen with an external fold, and the display can be seen wrapping around the back of the phone - meaning both parts of the screen are exposed when closed.

Let's start with the pros. First: it's so cool. Even compared to other foldable phones, this feels a bit like a sci-fi kit. It's also natural to use a single display when it's closed, and then unfold the same screen when you need it, rather than switching displays when you need extra space.
