Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, the latest foldable phone from Xiaomi smartphone brand has been launched. The book-style foldable phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and comes with a Leica-branded quad rear camera.

This comes after Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the unveiling of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 suggests that the fierce competition for foldable smartphones is heating up.

With the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, both tech giants are trying to combine the smartphone and tablet experience. So Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 could be a replacement for Galaxy Z Fold 5. Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Price

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 starts at CNY 8,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The 16GB RAM + 512GB model is priced at CNY 9,999 while the 16GB RAM + 1TB storage model is priced at CNY 10,999.

On the other hand, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a bit more expensive at $12,999 for the base 12GB RAM + 512GB RAM and storage configuration. The 1TB storage variant comes in at Rs. 14,999. This pricing will undoubtedly give Xiaomi the upper hand in the competition.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Specs

Both phones run Android 13 with each brand's own skin on top. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 comes with MIUI Fold 14, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with One UI 5.1.1.

On the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, users get a larger 8.03-inch foldable E6 AMOLED LTPO in-display with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display inside with an adaptive refresh rate range of 1Hz to 120Hz.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 phone comes with a 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED cover display, while the Samsung phone comes with an external 6.2-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display.

The processor is the same in both the phones. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 handset comes with a customized Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform for the Galaxy SoC, as well as up to 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 have different rear camera setups. The former comes with a Leica-tuned quad rear camera unit comprising of a 50 MP Sony IMX 800 primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 12 MP wide-angle sensor, a 10 MP periscope sensor and a 10 MP telephoto sensor.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 offers 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options for the Mix Fold 3 while Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage variants.

The connectivity options and sensors of the two foldable products are almost similar. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable phone supports S Pen stylus. Both models come with a fingerprint sensor for authentication. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has an IPX8 waterproof rating while the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 phone does not have such a waterproof rating.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold 3 comes with a 4,800mAh battery and supports 67W wired Turbo fast charging and 50W wireless charging. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with a slightly smaller 4,400mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging as well as Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 that offers 15W charging speeds.It also offers wireless shared power to charge other wireless charging enabled devices.
