Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
When it comes to the quality of camera images and video footage, premium smartphones can now rival professional equipment. But with so much to choose from, where do you start?
I sifted through the top best camera phones offered on the market, comparing technical features such as resolution, aperture range, and zoom capabilities to determine our top 6 picks.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
Samsung stands out with its Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra phone, which comes with four rear lenses in addition to a selfie camera.
The upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a 200 MP wide-angle lens instead of a 108 MP wide-angle lens, in addition to 10 MP periscope telephoto and telephoto lenses and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
However, its 12MP selfie lens is a step down from the 40MP selfie lens of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Nonetheless, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is still in a league of its own even in this regard, considering that its main competitor, Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max, comes with a mostly 12MP camera array.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offers up to 100x digital zoom, 10x optical zoom, and an impressive aperture range that manipulates light for a variety of effects.
But, by far its strongest point is the ability to capture ultra-sharp footage at a groundbreaking 8K resolution through a camera phone.
Samsung Galaxy S23/S23+
Both Samsung Galaxy S23 and Samsung Galaxy S23+ come with the same camera array. This is a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 10MP telephoto lens, as well as a 12MP selfie lens.
For those whose smartphone list centers solely on camera quality, opting for the standard Samsung Galaxy S23 can save some money.
In addition to the ability to capture video in best-in-class 8K resolution, the Samsung Galaxy S23 and Samsung Galaxy S23+ offer up to 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom as well as an aperture range that allows users to create a variety of bokeh effects.
iPhone 14 Pro Max
It's no surprise that Apple's latest high-end phone comes with a high-spec camera system. And it's priced below the launch price of its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
While the latter has a 12MP camera system, Apple has replaced the 12MP wide angle rear lens with a 48MP rear lens in the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This brings the device more in line with its competitors.
The rear lens admits 29% more light than its predecessor, making it 2.5 times more effective at capturing details in low-light conditions. The camera also incorporates the best pixels from multiple exposures to help take more realistic photos.
An impressive aperture range allows for a variety of lighting effects. As for video recording, footage can be captured in 4K resolution.
Huawei Mate 50 Pro
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro is capable of capturing crisp, vibrant images from both the front and back. It has a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens on the front, also known as a 3D depth-sensing scanner.
This improves the focus and sharpness of objects in photos. There is also a 50 MP super aperture camera, a 64 MP telephoto lens and a 13 MP ultra wide angle lens on the front.
Its mid-range camera offerings include a limited 5x maximum optical zoom, but with a relatively decent f-range for various bokeh effects, and 4K resolution for video recording. But since I haven't grabbed the Huawei mate 60 Pro for a while, I won't be lining it up for now haha.
iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro is priced too low for the Max, but it has many of the same camera features, including three rear lenses (telephoto, wide-angle, and ultra-wide-angle) and a selfie shooter.
Both models feature a LiDAR scanner on the back of the phone and a front-facing SL 3D scanner that measures the depth and distance of objects for more accurate photos. The LiDAR scanner can also be used in AR applications.
The iPhone 14 Pro comes with up to 1TB of storage - perfect for storing photos and footage.
iPhone 14 / iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature a 12MP camera system with a selfie camera and wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle rear lenses.
Their standard and base model status means they don't come with LiDAR lenses or telephoto lenses like the premium versions, and can only achieve a maximum 5x digital zoom.
As for video, these models are capable of shooting in 4K resolution.
