You'll understand after reading

After the debut of the iPhone 14, Cupertino fans were, to put it mildly, disappointed with the lackluster changes it made, because for all the new things the iPhone 14 Pro lineup got, the iPhone 14 itself seems to have left a little bit to be desired.

I guess this begs the question: is the iPhone 14 really that bad? Well, let's take a deeper look at how the iPhone 14 lineup compares to the iPhone 13.

I. Design and display

There's actually a pretty big change here - literally. gone is the 5.4-inch iPhone Mini option, replaced by the larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus.

It seems that the iPhone 13 Mini isn't selling as well as Apple had hoped, and with most people preferring longer battery life and a larger display, Apple is finally giving users the option of a larger smartphone without having to buy a Pro Max device.

However, that does seem to be the only major change. The base iPhone 14 still features the same 6.1-inch Ultra Retina XDR display as the iPhone 13, with the same 2532 x 1170p resolution and the same 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also have a maximum typical brightness of 800 nits, rising to a peak brightness of 1,200 nits in HDR mode - again, exactly the same as the iPhone 13.

Here you're still limited to 60Hz, as ProMotion once again remains a feature for iPhone Pro models only.

Aside from the display, you'll also see the exact same body with flat sides, diagonal camera layout and notch design. There are no dynamic islands here like their Pro siblings, so the iPhone 14 retains the bangs found on the iPhone 13.

It also has the same dimensions as the iPhone 13, with a slight increase in depth from 7.65 mm to 7.80 mm and a 1 gram weight reduction from 173 grams to 172 grams. Meanwhile, the larger iPhone 14 Plus weighs 203 grams.

2. Processor

Well, Apple did show their eco-friendliness here by "recycling" the A15 bionic from last year's iPhone 13 series to the iPhone 14 series, but that's not exactly the same as the A15 bionic.

Instead, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will come with the A15 Bionic found in the iPhone 13 Pro lineup. the main difference here is that it includes a 5-core GPU, as opposed to the A15 Bionic found in the Pro iPhone 13, which has only 4 GPU cores.

3. Camera

iPhone 14 Camera

At first glance, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus appear to have the exact same dual-camera setup as the iPhone 13 before it, but with a few minor tweaks to the camera section.

The new iPhone 14 lineup comes with a major 12MP primary lens with a larger f/1.5 aperture and a bigger sensor. By comparison, the iPhone 13 has a 12 MP, f/1.6 primary camera. Next to that is the same 12 MP, f/2.4 ultra-wide camera, and in terms of features, you also get the same Deep Fusion, Sensor Shift, and Cinematic Mode as last year.

iPhone 13 Camera

There are some new features though, such as the Photon Engine, which Apple says is capable of improving low-light performance by as much as 49% compared to the iPhone 13.Then there's Action Mode, a video stabilization feature that lets you record intense scenes during the heat of the action without worrying about too much shaking and vibration.

As for the front-facing camera, Apple has also made some upgrades to it, replacing the iPhone 13's 12 MP, f/2.2 TrueDepth front-facing camera with a 12 MP, f/1.9 TrueDepth front-facing lens.

It also gets new Photon Engine features and the ability to shoot up to 4K HDR at 30fps when using Movie Mode.Apple has even added autofocus to its front-facing camera for the first time.

4. Battery

Apple never reveals the actual battery capacity of its iPhones, but will give us an estimate of battery life. For the iPhone 14, Apple says you should be able to play up to 20 hours of video, an hour more than the iPhone 13.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Plus has up to 26 hours of video playback time. They can also be charged up to 50% in 30-35 minutes using a 20W charging head.

5. Security features

While most of the devices are similar to the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus do have some new security features. For starters, there's the new Satellite Emergency SOS, an emergency messaging service that utilizes communication satellites so you can send messages in an emergency without any WiFi cellular reception.

It guides you through some questions and helps you point your iPhone 14 at satellites to communicate your information to others. It also allows you to share your location on Find using Emergency SOS via satellite.

Then there's the new crash detection, a feature Apple "hopes you'll never have to use". Basically, Apple has put a new high-dynamic-range gyroscope and a dual-core accelerometer in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus that can measure gravity up to 256Gs. This will let your iPhone know if you've been in a serious car accident and will automatically contact emergency services. So who are you more optimistic about?

After the debut of the iPhone 14, Cupertino fans were, to put it mildly, disappointed with the lackluster changes it made, because while the iP...

[10,1,4,8
79,14,247,83,241,48,246,52,80
0":"post-1409","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"hentry","6":"category-apple","7":"category-phone","8":"category-product","9":"category-tech","10":"tag-apple","11":"tag-iphone","12":"tag-iphone13","13":"tag-iphone14","15":"tag-48","16":"tag-246","17":"tag-52","18":"tag-80
["GET
