Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
Each pair of AirPods has its own benefits and features, and which model is right for you depends a lot on how you plan to use them.
Buyers who like portability should consider Apple'sEarbud styleOne. Those who want only the basics will be happy with the entry-level AirPods (2nd generation). The mid-range AirPods (3rd generation) promise better sound quality and longer battery life. Apple's AirPods Pro (2nd generation) are even more expensive, but they go a step further by adding noise cancellation.
If you really want the best sound quality, there's the AirPods Max. These headphones are best suited for Apple fans who don't mind paying a premium price for great audio, noise-canceling features, and preferOver-ear typeDesign.
The best AirPods overall: 2nd generation AirPods Pro
The second-generation AirPds Pro are Apple's top wireless headphones. If you're looking for superior sound quality and noise cancellation - and your budget allows it - I'd recommend AirPods Pro.
The second generation AirPods Pro easily delivers the best sound quality of all Apple AirPods. The new custom drivers bring a huge improvement and the sound is noticeably richer than the original AirPods Pro, which always sounded a little hollow and distant to me.
They're the first AirPods to use the new H2 processing chip, which Apple claims has twice the noise canceling power of the H1 chip in the first-generation AirPod Pro.
Good noise cancellation is not only useful when commuting or traveling - it's a key feature for eliminating distracting noise while working at your desk. If your budget allows, this is a feature worth spending money on.
Beyond the sound quality and great noise cancellation, the second generation AirPods Pro and its in-ear design may even be the only choice for some people because AirPods do exist in the ear. The second-generation AirPods Pro are more secure to wear than regular AirPods, thanks to customizable earbuds that fit your ears better.
The best AirPods for casual users: 3rd generation AirPods
Apple's third-generation AirPods are a great value compared to the second-generation AirPods. They include advanced audio features like adaptive equalizer and personalized spatial audio, giving the impression that the music is coming from around you, not directly to your ears (in stereo).
Not everyone likes the surround sound aspect of personalized spatial audio, so it's nice that it's just an option. There's no denying that the third generation AirPods have higher quality drivers and amplifiers for better sound quality than the second generation AirPods.
While the third-generation AirPods have a contoured design and a shorter stem that makes them look like AirPods Pro, they don't include noise-canceling features, which isn't surprising for this price point of Apple AirPods.
In your ears, the third-generation AirPods are more like the second-generation AirPods than the in-ear design of the AirPods Pro. If you've had issues with AirPods staying in your ears, the third-generation AirPods won't help.
The best AirPods on a budget: 2nd generation AirPods
Apple's second-generation AirPods pack all the core features - like fast pairing with iOS devices and automatic play and pause - into a more affordable pair of wireless headphones.
They're the right choice if you primarily listen to podcasts and other voice-based audio rather than music, or if you'd rather sacrifice features like noise cancellation, spatial audio, and waterproofing to save money.
The second-generation AirPods have longer handles than the third-generation AirPods and AirPods Pro, which basically makes them look like Apple just cut the wires from its wired EarPods headphones.
This looks good - they've actually become an iconic design - but it's not as stylish as the short stems on the more expensive AirPods listed here.
The second-generation AirPods have Apple's standard AirPods fit for many people, but for some people they won't fit in their ears.
The best AirPods for audiophiles: AirPods Max
AirPods Max delivers best-in-class audio performance and noise cancellation, all rolled into an elegant design that outperforms competitors from Bose and Sony.
The biggest difference you'll notice between AirPods Max and Apple's other AirPods is their wrap-around ear design. That alone suggests that these headphones are designed for people who care more about sound quality than the average person and also want a pair of headphones that make a statement when worn in public.
AirPods Max features Apple-designed drivers and 10 audio cores that deliver computed audio and adaptive EQ, enabling the headphones to adjust sound based on the fit of the ear cups. Like AirPods Pro, AirPods Max supports additional features such as spatial audio and quick pairing.
During my testing, I found that the AirPods Max sounded significantly crisper, bolder, and louder than the Bose Noise Cancelling 700 headphones. They also outperformed the Sony WH-1000XM4, although the Sony headphones were very close.
AirPods Max also does a great job at noise cancellation. However, the downside is that the included case doesn't charge the AirPods Max. Instead, it puts them in low-power mode.
There's no doubt that AirPods Max are great, but the price tag makes them out of reach for many people. If you're an Apple loyalist, care about great audio and prefer an over-ear design - and are willing to splurge - then AirPods Max is the way to go.
