Hello! I’m Yuan Hehe. Please follow me for more exciting content. OPPO Find X9 Pro review
In the Android phone market, OPPO’s strategy has become increasingly clear over the years. Moving towards the high-end, there’s the Find X series, which focuses on imaging and flagship experience; looking towards the mid-range market, the Reno series leans more towards lightweight design, photography, and everyday use – the two product lines have a very clear division of labor.
If you prioritize high-end specifications, such as performance, imaging, or screen experience, then the Find X series is basically aimed at flagship devices, often directly competing with high-end models from Apple and Samsung. The Reno series takes a different approach, focusing on bringing flagship features down to the mid-range, emphasizing design, feel, and selfie capabilities—features frequently encountered in everyday scenarios.
With an ever-expanding product line, choosing the right one can be quite difficult. Therefore, this recommendation leans more towards practical experience than simply looking at specifications. In short, it aims to help you find the one that truly suits your needs more quickly.
OPPO Find X9 Pro: The most well-rounded OPPO flagship to date
My impression of the OPPO Find X9 Pro isn’t just that it has “powerful specifications,” but that it truly delivers a complete overall experience. Many flagship phones nowadays have outstanding individual capabilities, but what’s truly difficult is having no obvious weaknesses, and this phone happens to be that type.
Compared to its predecessor, the OPPO Find X8 Pro, this isn’t just about piling on specs; it involves a complete overhaul of many details. The biggest change is in the imaging system. The rear camera has been reduced from a quad-camera setup to a triple-camera system, which might seem like “one less lens,” but the core upgrade is actually more significant—it’s now equipped with a 200-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and the image quality is more stable than expected.
In actual shooting, this camera system has a high tolerance for error. Whether shooting city lights at night or capturing moving pets during the day, the success rate is quite high, and you rarely encounter situations where the image looks good but turns out bad. The front camera has also been upgraded to 50 megapixels, resulting in significantly more complete details in selfies, and its advantage is even more pronounced when taking group photos.
Aside from its camera capabilities, what surprised me most was its battery life. A 7500mAh battery is quite impressive for a flagship phone, but it hasn’t become particularly bulky or heavy despite the large battery. Under normal use, two days of battery life is generally no problem, and if you use it lightly, it can even last longer.
Overall, the OPPO Find X9 Pro is the kind of phone that doesn’t need to emphasize any particular selling point, but whose user experience becomes more and more comfortable the more you use it. Its core components—imaging, performance, and battery life—have no obvious weaknesses, which is its strongest competitive advantage this generation.
OPPO Find X8 Pro: A flagship that’s still very competitive today.
Even though the Find X9 Pro has been released, the Find X8 Pro is still a very competitive phone today. Especially in terms of imaging, it remains among the top-performing flagships of last year.
Its camera design is similar to that of the Find X7 Ultra at the time, with a generally stable and pleasing aesthetic. It captures rich detail in daylight and maintains good dynamic range in low light, making it easy to take good photos in most situations. The autofocus is fast, and when zoomed in to high magnification, the AI-assisted correction is more natural than many other models, without the overly “algorithmic” feel of some other cameras.
Aside from its camera capabilities, its overall configuration remains competitive even today. The large 5910mAh battery provides a sense of security, and under normal use, it should easily last about a day and a half. With light video streaming and chatting, it can even last longer.
In terms of performance, it uses the Dimensity 9400, and the actual experience is indeed very impressive. Whether it’s playing demanding games or switching between multiple tasks, the smoothness is very stable, and the performance release is even close to some models that are designed for e-sports.
In terms of the system, ColorOS 15 has matured considerably. The interface style is reminiscent of Apple’s minimalist and smooth approach, but it also retains its own logic, making it easy to learn and use. It also incorporates some AI features, but these are more practical than simply added to “showcase AI.”
Furthermore, features like the 120Hz screen, IP69 water and dust resistance, and the newly added camera control buttons all contribute to its flagship feel. Plus, the price is now more affordable than when it was first released, making it a more cost-effective option.
If you don’t necessarily have to chase the latest generation, the Find X8 Pro is still worth considering, especially in the core areas of imaging, battery life, and overall experience, where it is not obviously outdated.
OPPO Reno 13 Pro: A very well-rounded mid-range phone right now.
Judging by appearance alone, it’s hard to immediately mistake the Reno 13 Pro for a mid-range phone. The build quality is quite impressive; the glass back and IP69 water and dust resistance make it feel very close to a flagship. Although the OPPO Reno 15 Pro is now available, this one is still quite good. The “Feather Purple” color option, in particular, is highly distinctive and avoids feeling generic.
The performance component uses the Dimensity 8350, which isn’t top-of-the-line by today’s standards, but it’s perfectly adequate for everyday use. System smoothness, application switching, and performance in mainstream games are all quite stable and don’t feel like a bottleneck.
What truly makes it competitive is its imaging capabilities. The triple rear camera setup centers around a 50MP main sensor, with an overall tuning that is pleasing to the eye. The colors aren’t overly exaggerated, but the detail and dynamic range are well controlled. Especially in complex lighting conditions, the image stability is better than many other models in the same price range, and there’s also more room for post-processing.
Battery life is also one of its advantages. The 5800mAh battery itself is already very reassuring, and with 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, there will be virtually no battery anxiety during daily use.
Overall, the Reno 13 Pro is a mid-range phone without any particularly glaring weaknesses. It doesn’t rely solely on one particular parameter to attract users, but rather strikes a comfortable balance between appearance, photography, battery life, and everyday user experience.
OPPO Reno 12 Pro: A More Affordable “Light Flagship” Option
Although the Reno 15 Pro is now available, the Reno 12 Pro hasn’t suddenly become uncompetitive. On the contrary, if you can find a reasonably priced version now, it would be a very worthwhile machine to consider.
What makes it most appealing is its well-balanced overall experience. The screen quality is good, with a crisp display, making it comfortable for everyday video watching or photo viewing. The design also has its own style, avoiding the cheap feel of a typical “standard mid-range phone.”
In terms of imaging, it performs quite well in good lighting conditions, especially in selfies, where the final images are generally pleasing to the eye. However, when shooting night scenes or fast-moving objects, the difference between it and higher-end models becomes apparent, as its stability is not as strong.
Performance-wise, it’s more geared towards everyday use. It’s fine for normal use, but if you’re particularly concerned about frame rate performance in demanding games, it won’t be a “hardcore performance” phone.
So whether this machine is suitable for you depends on your needs. If you value everyday features like appearance, system experience, and AI capabilities, it’s certainly attractive at this price point. However, if you’re particularly concerned with extreme photography or gaming performance, you might need to look at higher-end models.
