Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
We've ranked and rated the best performing cell phones based on what's available online. Whether you like Apple's iPhone, want to check out the latest Samsung flagships or prefer another Android phone, this article can help you which phone is right for you.
As with the others, the choices below are the result of countless hours of testing on my part. Given that new phones are being introduced all the time, my choices change periodically, but for now here are the latest rankings.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro: the best phone for most people
With iPhone 14 Pro, you get Apple's usual high level of craftsmanship, design, and finishes, but this year you'll get something extra: the Spirit Island.
Instead of blocking the camera cutout from the display, Apple designed the software around it and turned it into a feature. When you have a timer, music, or other real-time information playing in the background, it displays animations that you can interact with as well.
As usual, the Pro and Pro Max are the most expensive versions of the iPhone 14, but the extra money gets you a more powerful processor, an always-on OLED display, a better camera, and a premium design.
However, Apple is still avoiding USB-C on its phones, which makes transfers of its large ProRes and ProRAW files a bit slow, and advanced users there may have to pay extra for the Max version to ensure they have a truly all-day battery.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: the all-around camera king
In terms of raw functionality and software features, Samsung's Galaxy S23 Ultra is the pinnacle of Android phones. It's certainly more of an improvement than a reinvention, but it's certainly an improvement, offering stunning build quality and a gorgeous big display with a fast, smooth refresh rate and support for the S Pen.
The OneUI software adds a lot on top of the standard Android package, providing the phone with a lot of potentially very useful features, but it also means that the phone comes with a lot of outdated software and pre-installed duplicate/redundant apps.
However, I love almost everything about the Ultra. It's a great looking phone with a high level of water and dust resistance and offers wireless charging, which is a lot of fun. It offers pretty much everything you'd want from a phone, and it would rank even higher if it wasn't so expensive!
Samsung Galaxy S23+: the "do-it-all" phone
It's easy to see why Samsung remains at the top of many buyers' lists when it comes to finding the best smartphone, especially the Samsung Galaxy S23+. It has the screen space that the regular Samsung Galaxy S23 lacks, as well as a bigger battery and a more attractive price than the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. You get flagship-level power and performance, with its only weaknesses being the battery and charging speed.
Samsung remains one of the best Android manufacturers, keeping its phones up-to-date with the latest security patches and supporting its phones for up to four years with major software updates, ensuring you have the latest features and software, even if your phone is three or four years old.
The camera delivers colorful, detailed images, night mode is even better than before, and its design is sleek, slim and modern. Not to mention water and dust resistance. At the IP68 level, you get protection against common causes of water damage.
OnePlus 11 5G: a great value flagship phone
With the OnePlus 11, the company has taken another small step forward, focusing on the parts of the OnePlus phone that really matter. It didn't try to fit everything in , it chose to offer us the best of the most important things: performance and display.
In these two areas in particular, the OnePlus 11 definitely delivers. It has one of the best displays on the market, is super fast and responsive, and has the signature customizable software we've come to expect from OnePlus. Though in the current situation, it's a slightly tweaked version of Oppo's ColorOS 13 software.
OnePlus also saw fit to implement really fast wired charging, including a power adapter in the box with a 100W SuperVOOC rate that lets you fully charge from 1% to 100% in 25 minutes, which isn't bad for capacity at all considering the 5000mAh battery. The camera is decent enough too, although arguably still an area where it can't compete with Samsung or Google.
At the end of the day, though, when you're spending so little on a proper flagship phone, there's always going to be areas where it can't compete with the big names. In this case, we think it's a compromise worth making.
Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro: the fastest charging phone
The Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro is a powerful flagship phone with one of the best primary cameras we've ever seen in a smartphone. Combined with a luxurious ceramic back cover, a 19-minute full charge, and a stunning display, it's a brilliant phone.
With the Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro, the smartphone maker has introduced a diamond in the smartphone market. It has the brightest QHD+ resolution display we've ever seen in a smartphone, delivers excellent speed and smoothness, and features the fastest wired charging currently available through a single port.
With its 100W wired charger, you can fully charge an empty battery in just 19 minutes. When you combine these elements with a device made of ceramic, you get a premium, luxurious experience.
The camera experience really makes the phone, with the 1-inch sensor delivering images with excellent low-light performance, great detail and realistic textures.
It would be nice if the ultra wide angle and telephoto lenses were equally powerful, and the MIUI software experience introduces some very unnecessary and unintuitive elements into the interface. Nonetheless, its shortcomings didn't stop us from buying and using the phone and wanting to keep using it.
Best Gaming Phone: Asus ROG Phone 7
Gaming phones have traditionally been a niche product, but with the ROG Phone 7, ASUS has improved on an already successful model. So much so that I'd recommend it to anyone whose main priority is a great media and gaming experience.
The speakers on either side of the display are the best of any phone on the market today. Each is individually powered and combined, they deliver loud, balanced sound with tons of bass and good stereo separation. Add it to a fantastic, big, bright display and you really can't go wrong.
It is also powerful enough to deliver fast and lag-free performance no matter what type of game you want to play. With improved cooling and thermal efficiency, it will deliver this performance for a long time without choking.
But there are a couple of drawbacks, namely: its extra heavy bulk and the hefty price tag that comes with it. It has a great camera, but the other two aren't really up to par from a flagship standpoint, but are an absolute pleasure to use.
Honor Magic 5 Pro: an alternative powerhouse
The Honor Magic 5 Pro most importantly shows that Honor is back in the flagship phone market. It attempts to challenge the big name Android makers and the result is a very powerful phone with a stunning display and three capable cameras.
With its huge camera island on the back and head-turning feel, the design is sure to divide opinion, as will the slightly clunky approach to software and bloat, but the Honor Magic 5 Pro gets more right than wrong.
Considering its specs and features, its price puts it in an easy position among similar big-name phones, making it great value for money, especially when you consider that Honor will provide you with three major Android updates and up to five years of security patches.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: The best folding phone ever made
Of all the foldable phones on the market, I think the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 offers the most attractive option for buyers. It is as much a fashionable product as it is a technological one, thanks to its cute design and multiple color and style options. Combined with a sturdy aluminum frame and IPX8 water resistance, this phone is built to last.
From a durability standpoint, my only long-term concern is the internal flexible display. Previous generations often wore out or peeled off after months of use, and we don't yet know if the same is true of the latest generation.
With flagship processing power, decent battery life, vibrant display, software and camera performance with lots of customization. You can have a foldable phone without making any major compromises in terms of features/performance. Plus, it's not expensive.
