Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
The iPhone 13 is Apple's very popular iPhone, and it has most of the features of the premium 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, such as an ultra-fast A15 bionic processor, an ultra-wide-angle camera, and a battery that can support a full day of use.
However, more than a year on, the arrival of the iPhone 14 has led to a big price cut for the Apple 13, with plenty of deals on all the major platforms, and we'll have to see what the iPhone 13 actually achieves before we can make a decision.
iPhone 13: What I think
The iPhone 13 is still a phone worth considering in 2023.The release of the Apple iPhone 14 reminds us just how great the iPhone 13 was -- mostly because the iPhone 14 is nearly identical to it.
They share the same 6.1-inch display, dual 12MP rear cameras, 19-20 hours of expected battery life, and the same A15 Bionic processor.
Aside from the new colors, the iPhone 14 has few updates. But the iPhone 14 adds some key features, such as a 12MP front-facing camera that adds autofocus, which can significantly improve selfies and group photos.
Motion mode video recording for improved stability; Apple's "Photon Engine" for better color and low-light performance; and exclusive safety features including crash detection and emergency satellite connectivity to reach emergency services even when there is no cell phone reception.
iPhone 13: Design
The design of the iPhone 13 is virtually indistinguishable from that of the iPhone 14, still featuring square edges along the aluminum border, a Lightning port, a bottom-firing speaker, a volume button on the left side underneath the ringer/silent switch, and a side button to activate Siri and the ability to turn the screen right on and off.
Both have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, as well as Ceramic Shield screen protection, just like other iPhone models. The TrueDepth camera notch on iPhone 13 is 20% smaller than on iPhone 12, but a little deeper, and Face ID is still available.
There's a fuzzy square camera housing on the back, and the camera array is positioned differently, with the two sensors placed opposite each other rather than vertically, to serve as a differentiator between the old and new models. Measuring 5.78 x 2.81 x 0.30 inches, the iPhone 13 is just a little bit heavier than the iPhone 12 and can accommodate a larger battery.
It's still a one-handed phone, even though the iPhone 13 Mini is Apple's "official" compact phone.
iPhone 13: Display
The iPhone 13's 6.1-inch Super Retina OLED screen is large enough that text, apps, and keyboard displays aren't too cramped.
The 2532 x 1170 Super Retina OLED screen is extremely sharp and works with HDR10 and Dolby Vision at up to 460 pixels per inch. The sound from the speakers is extremely loud and the sound quality is not distorted by the increased volume.
It can be a good replacement for headphones. The screen has a refresh rate of 60Hz, which may not be too inconvenient for users. The maximum brightness of 800 nits is enough to provide excellent outdoor visibility; it can be increased to 1,200 nits when viewing HDR photos and videos. The screen's colors are rich and accurate, so you can see text, map navigation or the viewfinder clearly, even in bright light.
iPhone 13: Performance
The iPhone 13 has an A15 Bionic processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options, and there is no 1TB top tier storage option.
My phone comes with 512GB of storage which is more than enough for my needs, 256GB would be the best balance between price and capacity.
The iPhone 13 has a larger 3,240mAh battery, which can last up to 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12. The A15 Bionic processor also improves battery optimization and management, so users can draw more power from the battery.
iPhone 13: Camera
The iPhone 13's dual rear camera array is excellent - a 12 MP wide-angle camera along with a 120-degree ultra-wide camera - but it doesn't have a third telephoto camera, so you can't use the optical zoom for photos and macro photography.
The iPhone 13 supports 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, 30 frames per second, and 24 frames per second, as well as 1080p video recording at 60/30fps with good stability, especially when tracking moving objects.
It also supports movie mode to add a blur effect to the background of people and objects, and can even be used for dual 12 MP selfie cameras.
iPhone 13: The Final Verdict
The iPhone 13 has an excellent balance of being both smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max and offering more screen real estate than the iPhone 13 Mini, and comes at a significantly lower price of just $5,399, with options in Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Product Red, as well as 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage size options.
It has an outstanding battery life that can run and recharge all day without any problem and excellent camera performance. So, if you don't want to buy the premium features of the iPhone 13 Pro, the iPhone 13 is a good compact phone alternative.
