Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!

The 2023 laptop is revolutionizing what we can expect from these portable PCs. The outstanding MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023) is the latest addition to that list with its incredible performance, great screen and industry-leading battery life of nearly 20 hours.

-

Laptops come in all shapes and sizes, but that doesn't mean that buying a new laptop has to be difficult or confusing. We've listed below the best laptops for every budget and use case. Each laptop has been thoroughly tested and reviewed by me, so you can be sure that if you buy any of the laptops below, you'll get an absolutely great device.

Apple MacBook Air (M1, 2020): The Best Value Laptop

With MacBook Air (M1, 2020), Apple brings a huge performance upgrade to its thinnest notebook. 2020 Air runs on the Apple M1 processor, the manufacturer's acclaimed ARM-based chip, giving it the power boost it has long deserved.

-

Design:The design of MacBook Air is iconic, so it's not necessarily a problem for the 2020 model to keep the same look as the old Air. If you do want a newer design, check out the higher-priced MacBook Air 2022.

Performance:We were impressed with the MacBook Air (M1, 2020) as soon as we started using it. It boots up quickly (another benefit of the M1 chip), and macOS is fast and responsive.

-

Duration:We were impressed with the battery life of MacBook Air - after a few hours of work, the battery only drops a few percentage points. You can leave it on standby for a day and the battery level will stay high. In my battery tests, the 2020 Air lasted an impressive 11 hours and 15 minutes. This means you don't have to worry about plugging it in throughout the workday or school day.

Value for money:With a starting price of $6,999, the MacBook Air (M1, 2020) easily outperforms its more expensive competitors, making it a great value for the money.

Dell XPS 13 (2022): The best Win11 laptop

I'm impressed with the refinement of the Dell XPS 13 (2022). Its predecessor often topped my list of best laptops, but recently its competitors, like HP and Apple, have really caught up in terms of making desirable thin and light laptops. To get the XPS 13 back to its rightful place at the top of our best laptops list, Dell has made some major changes.

-

Design: The Dell XPS 13 (2022) features a new design that may upset those who like the old look, but it's fresh and modern and is available in a new color, blue-violet, in addition to sky, which is the standard silver color for the XPS laptop line. It's very thin and light, and the screen is bright, though not up to OLED standards. One design decision that may not please everyone, however, is the lack of a carbon fiber palm rest, which is replaced by a slimmer aluminum keyboard panel. We really like this change, but others may find the aluminum deck less comfortable to use.

Performance:The Dell XPS 13 (2022) is designed to be an affordable ultraportable laptop that can do what most people need it to do: some web browsing, video streaming, and handle some day-to-day tasks.

-

Battery life:If we compare the Dell XPS 13 (2022) to its predecessor, the battery life isn't very long. In my battery tests, it lasted about 7 hours and 31 minutes on average. It did better in the video test, managing an average of 9 hours and 8 minutes. That's less than the previous model and far less than Apple's M1 and M2 MacBooks.

Value for money:This XPS 13 model is more about value than performance - if you want great features, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is the version for you. With that in mind, the starting price is very reasonable.

Dell XPS 15 (2022): The best 15-inch laptop

The Dell XPS 15 has been updated with new hardware and classic XPS styling to defend its position as the most powerful 15-inch laptop around. If you find that 13-inch laptops are too small to work comfortably, but larger 16-inch and 17-inch laptops are too hard to carry, then the Dell XPS 15 offers the perfect balance. While the exterior remains the same, Dell has upgraded the internals.

-

Design:The Dell XPS 15 (2022) has the classic XPS look, brushed aluminum and all the other elements that make it one of the most attractive laptops around. It's also very light for a 15-inch model and very thin: the chassis is less than 3/4 of an inch thick. This is a laptop that is both easy to carry and comfortable to work with, thanks to its larger screen and keyboard. Dell has wisely retained the series' signature carbon fiber palm rest, which also helps make it one of the more comfortable laptops to use.

Performance:Equipped with an Intel Core i7-12700H CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile graphics card, my tests were able to complete everyday tasks with ease. It's not a gaming laptop, but it still scored respectably in my tests. While these are no longer the latest generation of CPUs or GPUs, they still perform well.

-

Battery Life: The Dell XPS 15 can easily get through a full workday on a full charge, lasting an average of 12:01 in my tests and about two hours less in our HD movie tests (10:07 in particular).

Value for money:The Dell XPS 15 (2022) is a premium laptop, but the price will only get more expensive as you configure the specs. This is a laptop for people who want power, not a budget price.

MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023): Best Apple Laptop

The MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023) is without a doubt the best laptop for creative professionals I've ever tested. It's powered by a choice of chips from the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, Apple's newest and most powerful chips. From the display to the design to the battery life, this is a truly outstanding mobile workstation laptop, especially for creative professionals who need a powerful machine to get to work. If the hefty price tag and bulky body put you off, the MacBook Pro 14-inch (2023) is a great option - it has the same M2 Pro and M2 Max chips and delivers very similar performance, but with a smaller screen and for less money.

-

Design:While the body is quite thick to accommodate the large number of ports including 3 Thunderbolt 4, 1 HDMI and 1 SDXC, the thin bezel helps keep the frame very small. It's a fair compromise. The bangs notch on the screen is split, but really it's no big deal.

Performance:Both the M2 Pro and M2 Max are a big leap forward from the existing M2 chip, which was uncompromising from the start. Meanwhile, the 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with mini-LED technology is a delight to look at. Its high refresh rate makes scrolling a pleasure, and it's also very sharp.

-

Battery life:Apple claims the 16-inch MacBook Pro can reach 22 hours when playing full-screen video, and in my own battery test, where we looped 1080p video until the battery ran out, we found it lasted an impressive 19 hours and 39 minutes.

Value for money:The MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023) is an incredibly ambitious laptop in terms of both hardware and design, and it's geared toward creative professionals who need powerful mobile hardware. Yes, it's an expensive laptop - but if you need that much functionality, it's well worth the money.

Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14: The top gaming laptop

As the name implies, the Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14 is a 14-inch gaming laptop, and while there are plenty of 13-inch gaming laptops out there, the goal here is to pack incredible performance into a thin and light chassis. Thunderbird does this with aplomb, delivering an impressively thin and light laptop that looks and feels premium, while still letting you play the latest PC games with ease. The Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14 proves that gaming laptops don't have to be big and bulky.

-

Design:With the Black Snake design throughout, you get an all-black aluminum chassis and the iconic green Razer logo. The chassis is just 0.66 inches thick and the laptop weighs just 3.92 pounds. Despite this, it comes with an abundance of ports and has a great keyboard, trackpad and display. The design is also quite soft for a gaming laptop, and you can turn down the RGB lighting, so it's also a powerful laptop that won't look out of place if you pull it out in the office or at a meeting.

Performance:Compromises had to be made to keep the Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14 so thin, and while the model I tested came with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, it's far from the fastest version of that GPU in laptops today. However, you'll be able to use this GPU to play almost any modern game at high settings, so the fact that it's light and thin makes it an incredibly modern gaming laptop.

-

Battery life:While some gaming laptops are starting to break the 8-hour battery life barrier, the Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14 isn't one of them. In a PCMark10 battery test that simulated a range of real-world workloads like word processing and video calling, the Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14 lasted 7 hours and 31 minutes. In my video playback test, it lasted even shorter, dying after 6 hours and 31 minutes.

Value for money:The Thunderbird Spirit Blade 14 starts at $14,999. This makes it an expensive gaming laptop, but with the build quality and performance on offer, it's not outrageous.
