Samsung has kept the familiar look in the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but more importantly it's what's inside that pushes the phone's camera to become a more powerful competitor.
It's a big gamble considering the time it took to get the phone to market and to keep the same look. It took a thoughtful approach to incremental improvements that made its design appear fresher.
Not just a fancy look, but smarter focusing and improved calculations that elevate the lens to a more reliable mobile camera. The new updates are obvious, as are the improved features that enhance the functionality in the most versatile mobile photography suite. While you may be able to focus on a few key points, there is still room for improvement.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Design
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra phone has a flatter display with a 6.8-inch dynamic AMOLED 2x display and also comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen protector to effectively protect the phone and add vibrancy.
It has a matte back, a nice shape, and although thicker, it's worth accepting to accommodate the S Pen and larger image sensor.
Inside the phone, it features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, improved GPU performance, and a new cooling system for better photo and video capture and editing.
However, it took up 60GB of space right after booting, probably due to the Android and Samsung One UI overlay layers and all the pre-installed Samsung and Google apps.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra brings more detail and quality to shots with a 200 megapixel wide lens shooting mode, much better than the previous 12 megapixel limit. Photos with higher resolution showcase details clearly, while visually having sharper image quality. In addition, the introduction of the Expert RAW format allows shooting at 50 megapixels in RAW format, which better captures all the detail in the final photo.
Equipped with the latest 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 image sensor, its 4×4 pixel merge allows for photos of different resolutions. This makes the camera more versatile and adaptable than the Samsung ISOCELL HM3 in the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
By default, it has a 200 megapixel wide camera (23mm equivalent, f/1.7 aperture) that shoots at a resolution of 12.5 megapixels. It also has a 12 megapixel ultra-wide lens (13mm equivalent, f/2.2) with a 10 megapixel telephoto (70mm equivalent, f/2.4) and a 10 megapixel periscopic telephoto (230mm equivalent, f/4.9), all using the Sony IMX564 sensor, with no shortage of optical stabilization.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's 12MP lens (26mm equivalent and f/2.2) makes a difference in the selfie experience. Of course, Elite RAW can also be used as a base, and the integration of the S Pen adds to the convenience we experience, as it allows for camera functions to be controlled without gesture control.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Video Features
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a lot of potential for video, shooting 4K at 24fps and 21:9 aspect ratio, with excellent image stability, reliable tracking autofocus, good low-light and night video, effective dynamic range, and available exposure compensation.
