Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
Regardless of their name, brand recognition, reputation or experience in the mobile industry, all companies looking to get on board with foldable phones in 2023 and beyond will inevitably be compared by the media and potential customers to market pioneer and global sales leader Samsung.
OnePlus has confirmed its existence and teased that it will be a no-frills foldable phone, but there are still a lot of questions about the OnePlus foldable phone. Will it be a book-style foldable phone like the Honor Magic Vs, or will you opt for a flip-folding phone like the Motorola Razr? How much will it cost? And when exactly will it be released?
Here, we break down all the latest news and rumors about the upcoming OnePlus foldable phone, from release date rumors to pricing speculation and the latest leaks.
When will the OnePlus foldable phone be released?
The still-mysterious OnePlus foldable phone has been on the radar of its maker a couple of times. Now, a generally reliable tipster is predicting an August release for OnePlus.
Of course, the as-yet-unnamed first-generation OnePlus foldable handset is unlikely to rival the existing Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 or the upcoming Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 in terms of global sales numbers.
But Samsung may still want to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that its supremacy in the market space remains unchallenged, at least for a while. After all, if there's one thing we know about OnePlus, it's that the company can compete with pretty much anyone when it comes to pricing.
OnePlus also has the excellent Oppo Find N2 to design its upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 challenger. At one point, it was reported that OnePlus was actually working on two different foldable phones that were seen as direct competitors to Samsung's Fold and Flip lineups, but now it's expected that the Flip-style model will keep us waiting until next year.
How much does the OnePlus foldable phone cost?
At this stage, it's too early to say how much OnePlus' foldable smartphone will cost. It's safe to say it will undercut the foldable flagship competition, just as the OnePlus 11 did - although there's some speculation about how much. It could still be aPriced at $5,899.The foldable flagship phone.
Rumors suggest that the OnePlus foldable phone will be largely based on the Oppo Find N series, which makes sense given that giant BBK owns both Oppo and OnePlus and that the two brands have become increasingly similar over the past few years. You only have to look at the OnePlus 10 Pro and the Oppo Find X5 Pro to see what we mean.
This leads us to believe that it's either based on the book-style Oppo Find N2 or the flip-style Oppo Find N2 Flip.
Will OnePlus release a flip or book-style foldable phone?
While OnePlus has confirmed that a foldable phone is on the way, it hasn't said whether it will feature a book-style fold like the Galaxy Z Fold 4, or a flip-folding phone like the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Interestingly, OnePlus has registered trademarked names for both form factors - OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip - suggesting that the company may be considering both models.
This is especially true if the design is indeed closely based on OPPO's Find N2 line - OnePlus doesn't want to release a near replica of another phone in that market, right?
Of course, it's entirely possible that OPPO's foldable phone isn't so dependent on Oppo's Find N2 lineup, in which case it could indeed release both a book-style and flip-style foldable phone.
Much of what we know about the OnePlus foldable phone comes from the OnePlus president and COO joking that the foldable phone "will have the signature OnePlus fast and fluid experience."
He also made it clear that it will be uncompromisingly foldable. "It must be a flagship phone that doesn't fall out of favor with the folded form factor, both in terms of industrial design and mechanical craftsmanship. We want to launch a phone that aims to be the pinnacle experience in the foldable market today."

A new OnePlus foldable screen is slated for Q3, and it's a big 2K foldable screen. If the news is true, then it does seem that OnePlus could have a bookish foldable phone like the OPPO Find N2. However, the mention of 2K resolution seems to indicate that the two foldable screen phones may be slightly different, as the OPPO Find N2 has a slightly lower display resolution of 1792 x 1920.
Only time will tell how the OnePlus foldable phone will differ from the OPPO Find N2 series, and no matter what OnePlus does in the foldable space, we can be sure that the company itself will start revealing little tidbits, features, and specs very soon, so be sure to keep an eye on our site for regular updates on the matter.
