We've compiled a list of Android phones to suit everyone's needs, regardless of your priorities or preferences.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: The best Android phone overall
Samsung has been improving the Samsung Galaxy Ultra formula for the past few years, and it may have peaked with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung's biggest and latest flagship is a design masterpiece with a powerful processor, excellent camera, beautiful display and many more attractive features. Despite the high price, it's a phone that's sure to serve you well and last for years.
We'll start with the camera, as it's one of the most prominent features. The S23 Ultra features a quad-lens setup with a massive 200MP primary lens, as well as a 10MP 10x periscope telephoto lens, a standard 3x telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
The new camera suite is a game changer, but not for the reasons you might initially expect. Images taken at 200MP are stunning, but they're also big, up to 40MB per shot. instead, it's the zoom that makes the S23 Ultra so special. the 3x and 10x zoom options are still great, but the quality of the 30x option is catching up. the 100x option still isn't the best, but it's way beyond what it was before. In short, the S23 Ultra can take zoomed-in photos that no other smartphone can. Even if the zoomed-in photos aren't really your favorite it!
As a flagship phone, the S23 Ultra also includes some powerful specs. We were already impressed with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the OnePlus 11, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra takes it to a whole new level. Despite pushing it with the most demanding tasks we could find, we don't think we're even close to the S23 Ultra's upper limit.
Demanding games barely heat up and there's no lag between tasks. Available storage starts at 256GB, and while that's a decent amount for a modern flagship, consider upgrading if you want to shoot 8K video or 200MP images on a regular basis, as both take up a lot of space.
Like the S22 Ultra before it, the S23 Ultra comes with the S Pen, and like previous Note smartphones, you can use it for a lot of things - from jotting down notes on the screen to creating quick gifs from videos. The battery lasts all day, and while 45W charging isn't the fastest, it's still good enough for most. it's still good enough for most people, and it recharges the battery quickly.
There's a lot more we haven't touched on, such as the gorgeous design and great display, but suffice to say they're excellent. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is undoubtedly an expensive phone, but it will definitely last you for years to come, so if you want a phone that will last you for a while, then this is a good buy.
One Plus 11: Runner-up for best Android phone
While the Galaxy S23 Ultra may be the best Android phone overall, the OnePlus 11 is a close runner-up. It all starts with the OnePlus 11's hardware.
The combination of the stainless steel frame and glass back cover creates a phone that feels great in the hand. The rear camera housing takes some getting used to, but it's bold, distinctive and stands out from the crowd. The best part? After removing it from the OnePlus 10T, the OnePlus 11 brings back the alert slider - and it's just as great as before.
The OnePlus 11 combines its good looks with extremely powerful specs. the 6.7-inch AMOLED display is a delight to look at, and the 120Hz refresh rate adds incredible smoothness to everything you do. This is also thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that powers the phone.
Why? It's fast. No matter what apps or games you play on the OnePlus 11, it handles them with ease. But more importantly, it has good thermal performance and excellent power efficiency.
Expect to get about two days of use out of each charge, and when the battery eventually runs out, 80W charging lets you go from 0% to 100% in about 30 minutes. You won't be charging wirelessly on the OnePlus 11, and while that's annoying, the super-fast wired charging speeds help make up for it.
And the camera? The star of the show is the 50MP main camera. It produces sharp, detailed images with a distinctive style - thanks in no small part to OnePlus' ongoing partnership with Hasselblad. Shooting is so much fun. the 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera is good too, although the 32MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom can't compete with the zoom capabilities of other Android phones.
With the OnePlus 11, you're interacting with OxygenOS 13. It's not as minimalistic as previous versions of the OnePlus software, but it's fast, smooth, and generally works well. The OnePlus 11 is easily one of the best Android phones of 2023.

If you answered "powerful" then you're absolutely right - but that's not where it begins and ends, delivering in many other areas is what makes the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate not only an incredible gaming phone, but a great smartphone in its own right. gaming phone, but it's also a great smartphone in its own right. It's the best gaming phone out there, but it's worth considering even if you're not a serious mobile gamer.
We'll start with the obvious best place to start: the hardware. As you might expect, power is a top priority, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is still a great gaming chip.
There's plenty of power here for even the most demanding mobile games - and plenty of room for it to continue delivering great performance for years to come. It comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, so there's plenty of room for games, videos and everything else.

Even better, the AeroActive Cooler 7 accessory that comes with the phone also includes a subwoofer to provide it with a 2.1 sound system. This is an incredible piece of handheld technology for gaming and movies, and it makes the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate a phone for movie lovers and hardcore gamers alike.
However, it's a big phone, which may make it hard for many people to justify. While the size, weight and sturdy build mean it feels great when playing games, it can be heavy and potentially awkward. However, the USB-C port on the side means you can easily charge it while playing, although you may not need to charge it as much as you might think, as the battery is very good.
After a day of light use, the massive 6,000mAh battery dropped to just 70%, but even after 6 hours of GPS, gaming, and video screen use, it still had 36% remaining at the end of 1 a.m. The camera isn't a stunner, but it's capable and it certainly doesn't disappoint.
