Hello, how are you? I am the original huh, click on the attention, more exciting content waiting for you!
Along with Apple, Samsung is one of the most famous cell phones in the world, known for creating feature-rich phones with great camera technology, sophisticated design, and lots of innovation.
The company has also spent a lot of time and effort to improve the photography and video capture features of its phones, so read on as I take you through the best Samsung phones.
1. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: the best Samsung phone overall
Although it looks the same as the S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with several improvements that make it the best Samsung phone of 2023. In short, with a sturdier build, faster RAM, a more efficient battery, a customized - and tweaked - chipset and a new 200MP primary camera, this phone leaves the competition in the dust.
The S23 Ultra is only a subtle improvement on the already excellent design of its predecessor. There's a similar pill-shaped top-down profile with curved front and rear glass into a metal frame. One of the changes is that the radius of the curved edges of the display has been reduced to provide a larger flat surface area.
Display In addition to the reduced curvature at the edges, the S23 Ultra's display offers a familiar viewing experience to its predecessor. Like last year's Ultra, you'll get a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 1440 x 3088 and a dynamic refresh rate that adjusts between 1Hz and 120Hz.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a very flexible camera pairing. It has a wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and two telephoto cameras that give you 3x and 10x optical zoom respectively. Coupled with the absolutely massive 200MP sensor in the main camera, the S23 is undoubtedly the best camera phone money can buy.
Previously, Samsung Galaxy S phones were powered by either Samsung's own Exynos or Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips, but the S23 series comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset worldwide. This eliminates the performance difference that previous Exynos phone owners felt was lagging behind. And it's fast. Very fast.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra retains the same 5,000mAh battery as its predecessor, as well as the latter's support for 45W wired charging, wireless and reverse wireless charging. In tests, the phone's screen stayed on for about eight hours per charge.
Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's outstanding hardware comes at a price - it's more expensive. But if you can afford it, this is the best Samsung phone you can buy.
2. Samsung Galaxy A54: Best value Samsung phone
The A54 is essentially a "lite" version of the Galaxy S23, which is low on the list and offers many of the "S-series" features at a lower price. In some ways, it's not the absolute cheapest phone Samsung has ever produced, but it's certainly mid-range and definitely worth considering if you're on a budget.
The phone measures 158.2 x 76.7 x 8.2mm and weighs 202g so we call it a mid-sized phone. It features the floating camera design scheme of the S23 series. The other color schemes are equally beautiful.
The Samsung Galaxy A54 has one of the most aesthetically pleasing screens of any phone in its price range. It features a vibrant, colorful 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits of maximum brightness, making it some nice upgrades over its predecessor.
Its main camera is an optically stabilized 50MP f/1.8 sensor, plus a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and, after dropping its predecessor's depth sensor, a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera sensor. The photos taken are bright and colorful. Dynamic range is good for a phone at this price point, and photos are sharp as long as they're taken with the main camera.
The Samsung Galaxy A54 may outperform its similarly priced competitors in the camera and display sections, but it lags behind in performance. The chip here is the Exynos 1380, which is powerful but can't match its similarly priced competitors.
The Samsung Galaxy A54's 5,000mAh battery is huge, but we see a lot of mid-range phones come with that kind of power. The bright screen and 5G network require a lot of power, and I found the phone could easily last a day between charges, but not much more.
The Samsung Galaxy A54 offers some surprisingly high-end specs for the price in some parts, but is weaker than the competition in others.
3. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: The Best Foldable Samsung Phones
With the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung didn't try to re-update or fundamentally change the display or design of the foldable phone beyond the ability to eventually fold it. Instead, it brings some small but welcome enhancements over the Z Fold 4, plus a new processor, but there's still room for further improvement.
While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is not radically different from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, its flat fold form factor design finally addresses the biggest design blunder of the series. Superior build quality and IP-certified water resistance make it a trendsetter.
The main screen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2,176 x 1,812 and supports an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz. The lower end of that range saves battery life by not refreshing the screen when it's not needed, while the higher end means smoother gaming and video action. Meanwhile, the cover screen is a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2316 x 904. it also has an adaptive refresh rate, but the narrow aspect ratio isn't the best.
The bottom camera on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a similar sensor to the previous two generations of the Fold and is identical. There is also a selfie camera on the cover screen and a lower selfie camera below the home screen.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with Qualcomm's top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset because it needs to be as powerful as possible to perform multitasking operations.
Its battery lasts for about 15 hours, which is pretty good, but I would have liked it to be a bit longer. Still, it's a testament to the chipset's power management capabilities that it can do this.
It's one of the most expensive phones out there, especially if you want more than the base 256GB of storage. But if you want the best foldable phone in the world, this is the current price you have to pay.
4. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Best Flip Samsung Phones
Samsung hasn't completely revamped its flip foldable phone, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has done everything the company needed to retain its foldable crown.
The shape is a more significant improvement over the Z Flip 3 to Flip 4. The black "goggles" have been replaced by a wider cover display that now officially folds flat. It's also the most rugged flip foldable phone available, thanks in part to IP-certified water resistance.
It features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (2640 x 1080) "Dynamic AMOLED 2X" panel with a delightfully smooth 120Hz refresh rate, which can be scaled down to 1Hz to extend battery life. The outer cover display now covers the top half of the phone's exterior, greatly expanding functionality.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with three cameras on board, which at first glance look very familiar to those on the Z Flip 4. In addition to a new lens coating that reduces lens flare, major upgrades include image processing improvements and the new FlexCam feature.
While the Flip 5 is more focused on compact portability than the Fold 5, it doesn't skimp on performance, with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip excelling in performance.
Previous products in the Flip range have had disappointing battery life, but the power efficiency of the chip combined with the 3,700mAh battery means that all-day battery life is now possible. Flip wireless charging is also a welcome novelty.
The flagship foldable phone segment is much more competitive in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 era, but the blend of design, hardware, and software means that even though this phone comes with a hefty price tag, it's still one of the smartest buys in its class.
5. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Best Samsung Phone of 2022
Though it's now been replaced by the S23 Ultra, last year's model is still an excellent choice for anyone wanting a big, powerful phone - not least because its price has dropped since the 2023 version hit the market.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra The frame is strong armored aluminum that resists bending. The metal exterior is polished to a near chrome finish and sandwiched between Gorilla Glass Victus+ panels. The front glass is high-gloss, and the back is a warm satin color; both resist fingerprints. It is also IP68 rated for water resistance.
The 6.8-inch AMOLED screen is its other major highlight. It supports a resolution of up to 3088 x 1440 pixels (WQHD+), calculated at 500 ppi, matching the S23 Ultra. By comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro Max's 6.7-inch 2778 x 1284 screen has a pixel density of 458 ppi. it's worth noting that the S22 Ultra's default resolution is a lower FHD+, and Samsung says it uses a shorter battery , though there's not much of a difference to note.
The camera is a clear highlight of the S22 Ultra. There are two 10MP telephoto lenses: one at f/2.4 with a 36-degree field of view (FOV), and the other at f/4.9 with an 11-degree FOV. There's also a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree FOV, and a 108MP primary wide-angle camera (f/1.8) with an 85-degree FOV.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has never let us down. It's a fast and powerful phone. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset didn't outperform Apple's A15 Bionic in benchmarks. perhaps the only time I detected slight lag was during 8K video playback.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a powerful 5,000mAh battery and wireless charging. In my tests, the battery was good for a full day of various activities, but that's about it. I was a little surprised that such a large battery couldn't provide a day and a half of battery life.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a quality phone at an affordable price, but it's now priced slightly lower than it was before the S23 launched. Considering everything you get, it's arguably a better value than the 2023 model - although you'll of course miss out on upgrades to the camera, battery life and processor.
6. Samsung Galaxy S23: Best compact Samsung flagships
The Samsung Galaxy S23 is a niche entry in the Galaxy S23 lineup, but it's undoubtedly one of the most powerful phones Samsung has ever made, and quite possibly the best looking phone in the lineup.
Like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 is a phone small enough to fit in your pocket and then forget about. Its 146.3 x 70.86 x 7.62 mm dimensions feel minuscule in today's world of oversized phones, but Samsung has done a good job of making it look sleek.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 has the same 6.1-inch display as its predecessor, which is never a bad thing. The 120Hz refresh rate and crisp 1080 x 2340 resolution make images feel smooth and look sharp, while the phone is bright enough to maintain good visibility in sunlight.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 has the same rear camera array as the S22. It has a 50MP primary lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 10MP telephoto lens that rivals that of Apple's iPhone 14 handset. It's nice to see Samsung equip the S23 with a 108MP primary lens, but the device does come with an impressive 12MP selfie camera that trumps its predecessor's counterpart.
Like the S23 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S23 features Qualcomm's customized Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset across the board. In fact, Qualcomm's latest processors offer excellent performance for a wide range of mobile tasks, so you'll rarely find the S23 lacking in performance.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 has a slightly larger battery than the S22, which Samsung jumped from 3,700mAh to 3,900mAh. However, the phone supports the same peak 25W wired charging as the S22, as well as fast wireless charging and wireless PowerShare.
The regular S23 is an inexpensive alternative into the top of the Galaxy line. Sure, you won't get all the features the Ultra offers, but that's what makes this phone so much cheaper.
7. Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus: The Best Eclectic Galaxy Phones
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is a great like-for-like alternative to the standard S23, but its significantly higher price makes it a tough sell to anyone who is satisfied with the more compact size of its smaller sibling. What's more, since it doesn't have many significant upgrades beyond processing power, battery life and more storage options, it's probably a phone best suited for Samsung Galaxy newbies or those who can't use it.
With the removal of Samsung's once iconic contour-cut metalwork from around the camera array, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus has the same attractive design as the standard 23, albeit in a larger 76.2 x 157.73 x 7.62mm package.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus' 6.6-inch, 2316 x 1080 pixel screen is big, bright and responsive, though largely unchanged from its predecessor. The phone's adaptive refresh rate and brightness settings are also a big plus.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus features the same three rear cameras as its predecessor: a 50MP f1.8 main camera, a 12MP f2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10MP f2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Up front, you get the improved 12MP camera. It's not a bad setup by any means, but we hope the S23 Plus inherits the 108MP sensor from the S22 Ultra.
It has a customized Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that delivers industry-leading performance. Whether you're swiping quickly on the home screen, multitasking with a variety of apps, or taking a shot with one of the power-hungry camera modes, the responsiveness of this phone is near-perfect and the gaming experience is impressive.
The 4,700mAH battery of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is larger than its standard counterpart, providing nearly two days of power. The phone also supports 45W wired fast charging, while the smaller S23 only supports 25W.
A phone of this quality starts a bit pricey, which is to be expected, but if you don't mind the larger display of the Plus, I'd recommend the more reasonably priced standard S23 and battery size.
