Hello there! I am the original huh, click to follow, more exciting content waiting for you!
The smartphone market is growing rapidly, with little break between product releases in recent times. How can you decide which phone is best for you? Your first decision is whether to choose an iPhone or an Android phone - both are included here. So, how much are you willing to spend?
But if you're looking for the absolute best, then you've come to the right place. It's hard to imagine reducing the hundreds of cell phones we review each year to just six, but that's exactly what we've done here.
We could easily recommend all of the phones below, but each model stands out for its own reasons. Whether you're looking for a phone with AI features, a great camera, great gaming performance, great battery life, a folding screen or just good value for money, there's something here that will appeal to you.
1. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - Best Overall
If money is no object, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the best smartphone you can buy right now. Samsung has capitalized on the hefty price tag to deliver an excellent user experience with no real weaknesses.
There's also a range of key benefits, from the incredible overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance to the five different camera lenses, each with its own character.
You still have the gorgeous 6.8-inch AMOLED display and built-in S Pen, but as far as battery life goes, this is still a phone that will last two days for many people.
What's more, the software experience is the best it's ever been, with a slick One UI skin and seven years of OS and security updates on Android 14. A selection of genuinely useful AI features is the icing on the cake.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's price and big, bulky design aren't for everyone. But it is the most complete smartphone money can buy.
2. Xiaomi 14 Ultra - Best Camera
Xiaomi's flagship has been taking great photos for years, but the Xiaomi 14 Ultra takes it to the next level. For most people, this is the first smartphone that can truly replace a DSLR camera, such is the quality and versatility of the system on offer.
It includes four 50Mp rear lenses and a 32Mp self-timer, all of which can take beautiful photos in almost any environment. Although expensive, the optional photo kit accessories bring the experience closer to that of a real camera.
With a gorgeous design, stunning display, great performance and solid battery life backed by 90W fast charging, the Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra is one of the few phones that justifies its sky-high price tag. However, it's also unaffordable for many and the HyperOS software experience still isn't great.
These two factors keep it from ranking high on this list, but if photography is your top priority, then this is the phone to buy. If you want something more affordable, the regular Xiaomi 14 is almost as good at photography.
3. iPhone 15 Pro - Best iPhone
The iPhone 15 Pro has a series of small changes that combine to make a major upgrade. There's a new titanium construction that's durable but significantly lighter, and a new customizable action button to replace the mute switch.
Apple's A17 Pro chipset is the most powerful chipset in any smartphone, delivering truly outstanding performance, and the introduction of USB-C is certainly another step forward.
The 6.1-inch display is relatively compact by modern phone standards, but it looks great and benefits from a 120Hz refresh rate. Battery life is generally solid, but you'll still have to put up with slow charging rates.
But despite the lack of 5x optical zoom on the telephoto lens, the all-around photo experience is top-notch. Many apps now support really useful dynamic islands, and iOS 17 is as smooth and intuitive as ever.
For most people, the iPhone 15 Pro is the best option in Apple's 2023 smartphone lineup.
4. Motorola Razr 50 Ultra- Best Foldable Phones
When you think of flip phones released in 2024, the first one that comes to mind is probably the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 . While it's worth considering, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is a better option for most people.
The 4-inch, 165Hz external screen is the main reason. Not only is it much larger than the competition, but you can run any of your favorite apps on it without any complicated solutions. The 6.9-inch, 165Hz internal display is equally impressive, with creases barely noticeable.
Despite not being as good as the best camera phones, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra's rear camera can take great photos in a variety of environments. However, Motorola has opted for a 2x telephoto lens instead of an ultra-wide-angle lens, and the built-in selfie camera isn't great either.
But with smooth software, consistent battery life and decent charging speeds, Motorola is the winner. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is better in some areas, including long-term software support, but the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is the better all-around choice for most people.
5. iPhone 15 - the best value iPhone ever!
There are two upgrades that make the regular iPhone 15 instantly superior to the 2022 iPhone 14. The introduction of USB-C makes the phone even more versatile, allowing you to easily connect a range of different accessories. Then there's the Dynamic Island, a pill-shaped cutout for displaying all sorts of useful information - it was previously exclusive to the Pro model.
The iPhone 15 is otherwise very similar, but that's usually not a bad thing. the A16 bionic chip offers small improvements in performance and energy efficiency, the latter of which helps extend battery life.
With smooth iOS software and a quality build, it's the best value iPhone 15 model you can buy. But if a higher refresh rate display or fast charging are important to you, you'll be better off elsewhere.
6. Samsung Galaxy S24+ - excellent all-around phone
For many, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is the best option in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. While you miss out on the S Pen, it's still a great phone in its own right.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 model we tested still offers very good performance, especially when combined with the high-quality 6.7-inch display and premium design. The camera is great and the battery life is long.
Other key features of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra really do the trick, including useful AI features and an excellent seven-year software update. Aside from the slow charging speed and still expensive price tag, there's nothing to dislike here.
