The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max are arguably two of the most anticipated upcoming phone releases, but while they’re both sure to excel in most regions, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may have the upper hand in at least one way.

According to a more credible tipster, who has a good track record, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is said to be under 8mm thick, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is 8.76mm thick.

We’ve heard roughly how thick the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be, with another source saying it’ll be 8.75mm thick, but this is the first time we’re hearing about how thick the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be.

If this latest leak is correct, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be noticeably thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and as the source points out: This could also be a sign of the two brands’ design philosophies, as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max are almost identically thick, at 8.2mm and 8.3mm respectively. This change would see Samsung thinning its flagship phone, while Apple goes in the opposite direction.

The source also claims that the weight difference between the phones will be greater, although they don’t specify how much each one will weigh.

This isn’t the only ultra-detailed leak of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, as the tipster also claims it will feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, and a similar 6.9-inch screen to the current model, just with different (and likely smaller) bezels.

Furthermore, they note that the number and layout of the camera lenses will remain the same, just without the large camera ring on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and there will once again be a 200MP main camera, but this will be equipped with the latest lenses.

And this time apparently, there will be a 50MP ultra-wide camera again, as well as a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 3x telephoto lens that may or may not have a new sensor.
