Wang Chenglu delivered a keynote speech at the 2022 China IC Summit in late December. In his speech, he mentioned that HarmonyOS is neither Android nor iOS. it is not a single-device operating system.

He explained that unlike both Android and iOS, HarmonyOS is designed for multiple devices. It is a unified operating system that supports flexible deployment.

The operating system follows the principle of hardware mutual assistance and resource sharing. It requires one-time development and can be deployed to multiple devices. Finally, he proudly declared that HarmonyOS is ahead of all operating systems in the world in terms of technical architecture.

This isn't the first time Wang Chenglu has spoken out against this backlash. Back in March 2021, he responded to rumors that HarmonyOS was not an Android clone. The software uses AOSP (Android Open Source Project) components, which contain code from the open source community.

HarmonyOS 4

Expectations are mounting that HarmonyOS 4 could bring us some of the new user experiences we've been waiting for. Sources from around the web suggest that Huawei is working on HarmonyOS 4, which could be the main release for Huawei devices.

While HarmonyOS-powered handsets only account for 2% of the world's smartphones, that's enough to make Huawei's in-house operating system the world's 3rd largest smartphone platform behind Android and iOS.

If you're traveling, Petal Search will "search millions of hotels around the world and book rooms; and see flight and travel information for the world's top destinations." Petal Search will also "find local services and businesses through a comprehensive directory." But there's more to this app.
