Smartphones have become an indispensable and universal tool for modern life. Therefore, finding the right smartphone is not an easy task. Listed below are the best smartphones identified after my review process.
First Place - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is a top of the line Korean offering that lives up to its ambition to be the best smartphone. It features a large 6.8-inch dynamic AMOLED panel with a dynamic refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz and high resolution.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Samsung Galaxy ensures great performance and can be relied on with 8 or 12 GB of RAM, depending on the model. Storage capacities of 256, 512 or 1,024 GB are available. The S Pen is also back.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra offers a superb overall package with only a few device gaps.
Powerful camera settings offer a wide range of applications, from ultra-wide angle with macro mode to 100x zoom. The video capabilities have not been overlooked in the process.
The 5,000 mAh battery helps the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra achieve longer battery life, and it's also IP68 certified once again with support for wireless charging, eSIM support, USB 3.2, UWB, and more. Simply omit Wi-Fi 7 and extendable audio codec support for Bluetooth.
Second Place - Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+
The Samsung Galaxy S23 comes with a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED display that is extremely bright and supports refresh rates up to 120 Hz. The display area ratio is also very attractive. The S23 comes with fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy with 8 GB RAM. offers 128 GB and 256 GB storage solutions.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 is one of the best smartphones of 2023, and its big brother, the Samsung Galaxy S23 +, adds to it in some areas.
The 3,900 mAh battery helps the Samsung smartphone to achieve a long runtime and the triple cameras take very good photos and videos. The compact phone also has IP68 certification and a long supply of updates. Only UWB and Wi-Fi 7 need to be dropped.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 + not only has a slightly larger screen, but also a disproportionately large battery (4,700 mAh), which is why it has a better runtime. It also has a UWB chip and an optional 512 GB of storage.
Third place - Apple iPhone 14 Pro (max)
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are similar in many ways. Both rely on the same triple camera with a new 48 MPix sensor at its center.
They also offer at least 128 storage spaces and can be used with model variants of up to 1,024 GB. There is also support for UWB, wireless charging, MagSafe and IP68 certification. Instead of bangs, Apple's iPhone 14 Pro model relies on dynamic islands.
The 14 Pro features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a frequency of up to 120 Hz, compared to the 6.7-inch display of the Max smartphone. The larger model is correspondingly heavier, and it also has a disproportionately stronger battery, which ensures a significantly longer runtime.
Fourth place - Honor Magic5 Pro
The Honor Magic 5 Pro is a powerful high-end smartphone with an impressive triple camera, large battery, fast charging, 3D facial recognition and long update availability. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.
The Honor Magic 5 Pro is a very good Android smartphone with some drawbacks. The casing is well made and waterproof. It has a fast USB 3.2 port but does not support UWB.The smartphone comes with Google Android 13 and MagicOS 7.1 user interface.
These cameras provide good results in photos and videos. The communication features are modern but the smartphone does not support 6 GHz WLAN. it has good navigation features and offers good call quality. A fairly wide range of delivery should also be positively emphasized. Overall, Honor Magic 5 Pro is a powerful smartphone with some limitations.
Fifth place - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is a foldable smartphone with a 6.2-inch AMOLED display on the outside. When unfolded, there is a 7.6-inch panel inside. Both have a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
The triple camera consists of a 50 MPix sensor complemented by a triple optical zoom and ultra wide angle. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is the most technologically advanced foldable smartphone.
In reviews, the Fold4 convinces with its bright OLED, IPX8 certification, fast Qualcomm SoC and long-term software support. It's thicker when folded, though, and the UD camera image quality in the large panel is weak.
Sixth place - Xiaomi 13
The Xiaomi 13 is a compact premium smartphone with a 6.36-inch AMOLED display powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Fast UFS 4.0 storage is not expandable and the smartphone does not have an audio jack.
Yet again, it comes with an IR emitter, state-of-the-art Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3.In addition, the 13 is now finally dust and water-resistant (IP68), but still uses outdated USB 2.0.The Xiaomi Mi 13 is a strong, high-end smartphone, with a small gap between the phones.
In the review, the Xiaomi 13 is particularly convincing with its bright, true-color display, excellent battery runtime and fast charging. In addition, the smartphone now uses a triple camera in partnership with Leica and eventually has optical zoom.
